IDD K-9 Team Takes Top Spots in Nationals

The IDD K-9 teams took the top three honors in the Private Industry Bracket for the 2009 NNDDA Nationals. The National Narcotic Detector Dog Association (NNDDA) competition was held in Corpus Christi, TX during the week of April 20-24.

About 150 K-9 teams participated in the event, which featured divisions for Law Enforcement and Private Industry. Edward G and K-9 Max took 1st place honors.

Other winners for IDD included Rudy F and K-9 Rowdy who took 2nd place and Perry (PJ) C and the late K-9 Ruger took 3rd.

During the week long event, the K-9 teams searched for Cocaine, Marijuana, and various other drugs in various settings that included vehicles, tractor trailers, buildings and warehouses.

Federal DOT mandates that only the following five drugs be tested for: amphetamines, cocaine, cannabinoids, opiates, and phencyclidine. Additional drugs beyond these five are considered non-DOT drug panels and must be tested separately. For clients that are not federally mandated they can choose what drugs they want for the testing panel and how many.
